. . . lovely, riverside suites for visitors to the St. Marys and Stratford region
What to expect
The Cottage on the Thames will provide you with four things:
- A pleasant, clean, comfortable and fully-equipped suite.
- A beautiful backyard where you can relax by the river.
- Walkable access to the many attactions of St. Marys: nature, sports and fitness, architectural history, arts and cultural activities, good food, and unique shops.
- A home base from which to explore (by car) the charms of Perth County, including the internationally renowned Stratford Shakespeare Festival.
Household amenities:
- Freshly-laundered linen, bedding, pillows, towels, and washcloths.
- Basic toiletries (soap, toilet paper).
- Complimentary breakfast items (such as waffle mix, syrup, coffee, and tea).
- A small library of books and magazines.
- A television, DVD player, and movies (such as Cold Mountain, Broken Flowers, Dirty Pretty Things, Spellbound, Million Dollar Baby, and more).
- A bundle of firewood for use in the firepit (additional wood can be purchased from the local grocery store).
The Cottage on the Thames does not have cable access, web access, or a landline telephone. The St. Marys region has cell phone service, and pay phones are a short walk away. Coffee Culture, in downtown St. Marys, has free wireless Internet service, and the Internet can also be accessed at the Public Library.
Parking is ample: the driveway is double-width and three cars long. There is also free parking along Thomas Street, in front of the cottage.
Guests should be aware that the cottage owners, Mark and Melanie, bring their dogs with them when they are using the lower suite. They are well-trained (the dogs!), and will spend most of the time in the sunroom of the lowersuite. When we let them out, they will be restricted to a fenced-in area along the side of the house. If you like dogs, you are welcome to visit them, but if not, you can easily ignore them, apart from an occasional woof.
